"I have spent much of the last 10 years wandering around the world with my rucksack looking for things to photograph. What you find here are the fruits of those adventures. Whether it is the decadence and decay of old New Orleans, or the endless tapestry of the Western Sahara, I find that there is never enough film to frame the world in which we live. You will see my main interests lie in things that time has forsaken, but also in the beauty that encompasses nature. It is my hope that these images speak to you in as direct and appealing a manner as they do to me."
Mr. Doherty (a.k.a.: Drexler McStyles) currently resides in Albuquerque with his wife Nicole and their finches: Isis and Dylan. Born in Denver, Colorado in 1974, he spent most of his formative years drifting through Southern California; particularly Venice Beach, before landing in New Orleans in 2003. Evicted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 he hopes that Albuquerque will be more than just a break in the road. In addition to his photography, he is currently working on a book of prose entitled 'The Art of the Polaroid with Transistor Sound'. Steven Doherty April 2007 |
